The materials needed are to the left.
Materials
- 2 beakers - a spoon for measuring
- sodium carbonate
- copper sulfate
- scale
- sodium carbonate
- copper sulfate
- scale
This shows the final product after the mixing of the two elements.
Procedure
1. Use the scale to measure the mass of one of the beakers and record the mass in the data table.
2. After the mass is recorded, take the spoon and scoop out about less than half of a spoon full of the sodium carbonate powder and place is this in beaker that was just weighed.
3. Measure the mass of the beaker with the sodium carbonate in it and record this data as well.
4. Using the other beaker pour some copper sulfate into it.
5. Take the beaker with the sodium carbonate powder and pour it into the beaker with copper sulfate in it and mix the contents.
6. After the mixing is done, observe what has occurred, such as change in color and record these results.
